Lipodystrophy

Some AIDS patients acquire Lipodystrophy (a fat distribution ailment) as a side effect from protease inhibitor drugs used in their treatment.
But some forms of Lipodystrophy can be genetic.
I see many women shaped like tomatoes.
Could our modern diet have the same side effects as AIDS treatment drugs?
Could our diet be triggering genes which would effect the way we develop?

It is written in medical journals that this body type is more prone to diabetes. How much truth there is to this, Don't know.

When fat collects deep within the central abdominal area of the body shaping it into what you see above, an 'apple', it increases the risk of cardiovascular diseases like stroke, diabetes and CAD. That's because of the hormones released by the fat tissue that help regulate inflammation and energy metabolism in the tissues are shifted when there's excess fat in the abdominal area.
