As a pleased grandmother showed me the handiwork of her grandsons, she explained that she was surprised that the boys knew how to make repairs to her home.
"You think we didn't pay attention when John had us doing all that work last summer?", they asked her.
She was so proud (As was I) that she just had to show me the work they'd done without being asked.

Sometimes its nice for hard work to pay off. By that I mean your hard work UBJ. Well done (not that your done I'm sure)
That's a very important thing you're doing. These are skills that will serve them well all their lives. I've tried my best to do the same with my boys.
That is a wonderful gift you have given those boys.
My son came home with a ruined hammer this week. It simply couldn't stand up to the job and had to go into the bin. I knew our hardware stores were filled with crap Chinese products but a hammer that fails on the first use?
@ brohammas - I tell myself that I'm done almost everyday.
But then I reload and try a different method.
@ Desertflower - I don't think there is such a thing as lazy kids, only lazy parents.
@ You gotta' buy tools not toys.
I've had the same three Hart framing hammers for over a decade.
Guys laugh because they have a chrome finish and they make a nice 'ping' sound whenever I strike a nail squarely but they last a good while.
