Petri Dish

The recent rash of bed bug reports has many people worried.
Maybe we just need to get some fresh air and sunlight.
As our cars, homes, offices and hospitals have become more climate controlled - maybe we are creating an environment which bed bugs (and viruses) also enjoy.
Maybe we are creating a huge petri dish in which all of our undesired pests thrive.

I have to agree with you as only fungus and bloodsuckers thrive off of stagnate environments. It's always funny to see it's a matter of opening a window letting the sun in.

I was totally unnerved when I stayed with my parents last year and their house was so completely secured against the outside that no drafts occurred at all. It made me wonder how they could get fresh air into it to replace the stagnant air. I understand the urge to reduce power usage but feel there needs to be a balance between heat loss and air quality.

@ FreeMan - I noticed that the elderly women I help out do better after a relaxing afternoon sweating in the sun than they do after a restful afternoon relaxing in an air tight climate controled house.
If we suffer from too perfect conditions - maybe the things which harm us are thriving under those same conditions.

@ brohammas - Unless it's raining in Hawaii.

@ doll - Not to mention all the unnoticed fumes from our stuff.
We seem to be creating the perfect environments to ensure poor health.
