The High Road ?

The idiom, "Like water off a duck's back" has more to do with design than attitude. The duck doesn't will the water from it's back - instead, the water from the duck's back because of the positioning and shape of it's feathers.
Think of it as the roof of an A-Frame home.
The shape and position of the roof, working in concert with gravity, enables it to force rain water to the sides and away from the home.
The home has no ego to shield it from the water, the home is not pompous or arrogant - the home is just made to do that which it does.
Sure, some smart-aleck will point out that the tops of things are not where life lives.
That mountain tops are usually cold and barren.
That people don't live upon their roofs but in the rooms of the home below.
That the lower ground is teeming with life while the higher ground is generally only used as shelter for those below.
Okay, good point.
But, even on the low ground one must learn to let go.
One must learn that an abundant life is only possible if things keep flowing.
When one focuses on "self" to the point of stagnation - harmful and unwanted lifeforms can overwhelm and destroy ones ecosystem.
That holding on to ill-will, jealousy, anger, hatred, or anything else collected over time is doing harm to oneself.
So no brohammas - I'm not really taking the "High Road".
There is no special effort required of me.
My life is just facing in a direction which enables the rain water to just run off my back.

Nice post. The high road is the healthier road.

Play humble all you want my friend but Shaq, Kareem, and Wilt may have all been great centers greatly because they were taller than everyone else... but they were still great.
