Why We Fail

In an ego driven world, why do we so often fail?
Narcissus - "inopem copia fecit"
("Abundance made him poor.")

Because we want what others say we should want. So the accumulation of all the trappings end up turning twisted as they search for danger and excitement to satisfy it.

Hardly anyone knows what they want because of all the noise of the advertising world. A lot of people go on a walkabout stripping theirselves of everything to see exactly what they want. Some already know and end up living a life not on the radar.

So we fail because we fail to really ascertain who we are and what we really want.

Narcissus (In the picture) was in love with himself, and himself was all that he wanted. ("What I want I have - and what I have I want.")

In response to his self serving vanity, the gods turned him into a flower (Good for nothing but to admire.)

This vanity often consumes most in America today.
This vanity (Ego) perverts justice and morality.
This vanity hinders volition.
This vanity hinders progress.
