John 1:1 - "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God, and the Word was God...."
Later in the chapter many references are are made to "Light" or "the Light".

Mentions Lucifer as being the 'bearer of light'.

Just symbolism for enlightment, direction, guidance, illumination. Plus when you have ignorant people the easiest way to describe something is to use darkness and light.

Oy, These questions....whaddya think we are philosophizes like you UB???:D
The Gospel of John is a very potent gnostic text John.
Think about the importance of vision and metaphor to language - the virtual monopoly wielded by sight over the ordinary states of human awareness, ordinary awareness comprised as it is of a stream of pictures and words and more of the latter than the former.
You were introduced to this a few years ago. It hasn't seeped into the nooks and crannies of your thinking.
How many years has it been since you tripped like there was no tomorrow?

@ SeeNew - It's just odd that we connot surpass the speed of light. It seems that we are not able to surpass Christ either - only able to get REALLY close to The Light but not able to out do it.
