They All Look The Same To Me

Sometimes I can't tell one blond lady on television from the next.
Laura Ingraham looks a lot like...
Ann Coulter.
Who looks a lot like...

Dr. Laura Sch...
Oh wait... maybe Dr Laura's carpet doesn't match her new blond drapes.
You mean to tell me that Dr Laura (defender of free speech) is really a JAP?
You mean to tell me that this Hebe is attempting to disguise her ethnicity?
This Kike is lying to us?
That this Sheeny Shylock is really a Yid?
That this Jew is trying to pass herself off as a real American?
(I apologize if any language in this post offends anyone. Terms such as these should be done away with and are not intended in a pejorative manner.)

STFU!

I had a cousin who died on 9/11 at the Pentagon.
Maybe I should be upset that the Pentagon has the nerve to include a place for Muslims to worship within an American government building.
Maybe they should have moved it to a more cosmopolitan site open to the general public in New York or something.

At least NASCAR...

Admits who their sponsors are.

I have nothing against doctors.
I have nothing against making profits.
My problem is with doctors who practice medicine only as a means to make profits.
When Jeff Gordon says that Bosch makes the best spark plugs, I know that his sponsors are paying him to say so.
When a doctor says that Paxil will make me feel better - I have to wonder...

Take This Job And...

Any occupation in which one deals with the public is a stressful.
I used to wait on tables and then tended bar at my local TGI Friday's.
Believe me, sometimes as a waiter one would love to cuss out a customer.
(Tending bar was easier. One could cuss out a patron.)

In the history of quitting jobs, that guy from Jet Blue rates about a nine (from one to ten) on the scale of classic quits.

Roberto Duran's famous "No Mas" rates about a two as probably the second worst quit in the history of quitting.
But back to TGI Friday's...
Back in the day I had a friend named Jackie who worked at the Marina Del Ray store.
The store at the marina was known as "The Black Friday's".
It took a special person to deal with the Negroes who felt as though the store's employees were their own personal servants.
(Black women are often the most demanding, rudest, and worst tipping patrons to wait on.)
On a particularly busy night, a woman whistled at Jackie.
As Jackie looked under the patron's table, and the table next to her, and the next table over, "What are you doing?", the whistling lady asked.
"I heard you whistle and thought you'd lost your dog.", said Jackie as she walked away.
"Hey! Don't you walk away from me!", the woman shouted.
At which time Jackie said, "I'll be witchu' when I'm witchu'!".
The heated patron was not pleased with this and complained to a manager.
In the middle being scolded - Jackie asked,"Am I fired".
"Well, I'm trying to talk to you." the manger said.
"Well, I'm trying to take care of my other customers!", Jackie would retort.
"So I AM fired!", shouted Jackie.
"Go home.", said the manager.
The angry patron was pleased that her complaint had cost Jackie her job and sat smugly at her table as if to taunt the now unemployed waitress.
With this, Jackie calmly walked over to one of the five gallon iced tea dispensers and poured it's contents on the now "cooled off" woman and her companions and then began to walk out of the store.
"Hey! You can't leave in your "stripes" (The old ugly shirts worn by TGI Friday's employees at the time.) take them off!", the embarrassed manager would yell.
"Oh you wanta' see some titties?!", Jackie would say as she removed her shirt to reveal huge breasts and a big roll of belly fat as she walked from the building.
I've quit a few jobs, but never as well as did Jackie.
In the Hall of Fame of Quitters - Jackie remains a platinum member.

The Problem With Obama

Under the current circumstances - it' not that Obama is doing a bad job, only that he is not doing a great job.
Some Blacks argue that it is wrong for Blacks to criticize Obama's short tenure as POTUS.
Others feel that it is our responsibility to criticize the job he's done.
I don't know... maybe the reactions have something to do with which generation one belongs.
Many older Blacks grew up under the philosophy of, "That's good... for a Black person.".
But most younger Blacks have a heightened level of expectation from those who would do what others said could not be done.

Most younger Blacks expect champions like Venus and Serena...

Not also-rans like Chanda Rubin.

Most younger Blacks expect the dominance of Oprah...

Not the Affirmative Action pity and Politically Correct praise heaped upon sloppy ass Mo'Nique.

Most younger Blacks expect the candor, strength and commitment of Malcolm X...

Not the jealous pandering of Jesse Jackson.

Most expect the groundbreaking and society changing success of Tiger Woods...

Not the humble capitulation of Lee Elder.

Most younger Blacks have grown to expect one who changes the game like Jackie Robinson...

Not one who does more of the same like Larry Doby.
Obama's problem isn't that he is not a good President.
His only problem is that he is not a great President.

Nine Days ?

E-V-E-R-Y D-A-M-N T-I-M-E!
The problem with most club owners is that few understand the business of owning a club.
Most assume that they are supposed to sit in their VIP section.
Most assume that they are supposed to drink all night for free.
Most assume that they are the center of attention.
Most assume that their business is predicated on their own ego and not that of their patrons.

Most club owners feel that they are above doing any work.
That the details are the responsibility of their employees.
That being the owner makes them the most important person in the building.

But this thinking is wrong.
Nobody goes to a Lakers game to watch Jerry Buss own the team.
No one goes to the games to watch Phil Jackson coach the team.
The statistical and financial success of the team is dependent upon the performance of it's players.
The quality of the players (employees) makes the team - not the coaches (managers) or owners (owners).
(Although, as in sports, a bad manager and/or owner can ruin a team.)
But this philosophy is lost on those who decide to open a club to stroke their own egos.
This way of thinking is lost on those who imagine that they will finally be able to buy a spot among the 'cool kids' by owning the cool spot.

One of the biggest mistakes people make, when dealing with sudden success, is in expanding too quickly.
Circuit City was once the dominant force in home electronics.
It's place was so secure and profits so steady that the company decided to change it's business model from that of being a destination store to that of being a saturation chain.
The company decided to spend more money to look better than it was able to take in.
But this model proved to be it's downfall.
With a store in almost every city and on every part of town - the chain could no longer meet the sales goals required to keep the company profitable.
Circuit City had become too successful for it's own good.

Another mistake people make is to cut costs on the small details that matter.
Chrysler's PT Cruiser was a huge success.
The model was both retro and progressive at the same time.
The company was selling out of this model which appealed to car enthusiasts and soccer moms alike.
But Chrysler decided to cut cost and cheapen it's product.
(Hoping that no one would notice the poor fitting parts and cheaper materials.)
Today - Chrysler doesn't even make the model which jump started the company's rebound.
Club owners always do the same thing.
Club owners often decide to spend too much of their profits on themselves and then cutting costs on the things which made their club a success in the first place.
Of the three clubs I consulted for - only one remains open.
In the cases of the two that failed - the club owners failed to understand their niche.
They failed to understand that which they did best.
Each tried to do what the others were doing in an effort to get a demographic which was not their own.
No one goes to Taco Bell looking for fried chicken.)
Each created animosity between themselves and the other local club owners.
Each tried to make himself look good by trying to make the others look bad.
The sole surviving club scooped up the employees from the failed clubs and continues to treat them well - creating an environment where potential employees hope to work at this particular club for less in the hopes of working their way up.
One of the failed clubs lasted only a month after I'd left.
The other - nine days.

People Who ALWAYS Need Help

Are people who will always need help.

In a conversation with a woman, whose new home I was in the process of building, the topic turned to people who were paralytic or injured or maimed.
I mentioned that I knew; a guy with one leg who turned his home based casino into a legal computer gaming company, a woman paralyzed (for the second time due to car accidents) who owns a successful insurance company, a guy paralyzed from a fall who owns a successful construction company, a woman with one leg who owns a successful ticket brokerage company, a guy with one functional arm who owns an automotive repair shop, and on and on... .

But why do these people succeed where others with more use of their faculties fail?
Why do some let simple things such as gossip at the water cooler, the heat of the day or low pay hinder their success?
Are some people only able to prosper under the limited scope of optimal conditions?
Are others "hard-wired" with the adaptability required to succeed regardless of the conditions?
And can these traits be taught or learned?

My initial thought was that many from the hood could be taught to do better for themselves, if only given the resources and knowledge of those who live middle-class lives.
Maybe this is true but this change has to first come from within.
One must have the volition to change.
Such a change must be seen as being in ones best interest and follow the path of least resistance.
Such a change must either be accomplished by removing oneself from oppositional forces or be strong enough to overcome the inertia of the established memes, culture and traditions of these forces.

But at what cost?
And is that cost worth the result?
In many cases the basic needs of food, shelter, clothing, education and even medical care are met by our government.
Even with these ''needs'' being met, many still fail to remove themselves from the condition of being a member of the subjugated class.
Even if taught that work is the requirement for success, many still imagine that they are free and successful because they may have the same material goods as the middle or upper classes.
Many still buy a bootleg copy of an original luxury item before paying their bills and establishing good credit.
Appearing seems to be more important than being.
Many people who confuse 'class' with 'money' are those who have neither.

Much of what is spent in the form of government entitlements is wasted.
As an example; try filling a funnel with water.
How much water is wasted because the funnel is not built to hold water?
In the end, isn't there more water on the floor than in the funnel?
In the end, how much water does the funnel actually hold?

This is why government aid often fails.
Most of the people who require constant assistance would fail regardless of the conditions.
Most of those who succeed would succeed regardless of the conditions.
Maybe some people are meant to fail.
Maybe government assistance fails because it postpones the culling of weaker (and in turn, less desirable) individuals who cannot adapt to environmental, societal and/or economic hardships.

Most government assistance is wasted because it fails to reach those who would benefit.
Most of the money and resources are spread out so thinly that it becomes diluted to the point of being almost non-existent.
Most of those who receive such aid just see it as another resource and not as a temporary state.
Most government aid programs have taken over the responsibilities of the family, community or even church.
While I am not a Tea Party member I don't feel that is my legal responsibility to clothe, feed and educate those who should be doing so for themselves.

I know, I know...
I've said it before.
But this time I mean it.
I'm done trying to help people.
I'm done trying to fix the problems of those who created the conditions for these problems in the first place.
I'm done robbing these individuals of the character gained from these struggles by my assistance.
I'm done with giving resources to those who squander them on impressing those who don't matter to begin with.
I'm done.

SFW

So Michelle decided to take Sasha to Spain on vacation instead a city on the Gulf Coast.
C'mon...
The Spanish countryside or Mobile, Alabama?
And now pundits on the right are criticizing the President because his wife and daughter take a vacation.
Puh-lease.
Have they really run out of things of substance to get all worked up over?

SFW?

It's a good thing when someone becomes so good and the measuring stick for excellence that doing poorly makes the national news.
