Mother Earth Has Gas

Damn...
What's up with all this gas related destruction?

You know the feeling.
Not to make light of the recent earthquakes - but the BG's are usually proceeded by a rumbling in ones bowels.

Followed by a gaseous explosion like the one experienced on a pipeline near Dallas today.

Isn't it thought that gas was also the culprit in the recent Massey Coal Mine disaster?

And now we have a brownish discharge accompanied by a foul stench emanating from deep below the Gulf. (A story which KIT has been killing 'em on of late.)

Even pristine Iceland seems to have joined into the Fart Game.
I know, I know...
These are not joking matters.
But really.
What is up with Earth's recent Irritable Bowel Syndrome?

(Not Quite) The Magic Negro

What do you expect - Barack Obama to swim to the bottom of the Gulf to fuse the BP oil leak with his X-Ray vision?
Was he supposed to use his super powers to travel forward in time to see any future problems and then return to the present to prevent them from happening?

The lax regulations which permitted BP to drill and operate Deepwater Horizon were already in place when Barack Obama took office.
What was he to do - physically inspect every valve, pump and pipe for their structural integrity within his first two years in office?
Was Obama expected to require that all rigs in the Gulf operate under the more stringent regulations required by many European countries? (Okay, he could have done this, but how could he have known that they weren't?)
Was Obama expected to review the Incident Action Plans of every energy company in America?

Am I mad at Obama's reaction to the situation in the Gulf?
Nope, not at all.
I never thought of Obama as being Superman.

What Is Sleep?

Sportscasters described Ray Allen as being unconscious while on his way to hitting a record number of threes as the Celtics beat the Lakers in game two in L.A..
But was Ray really "unconscious" - or was he merely hyperconscious without being aware of it.
While movies tend to exaggerate natural occurrences - maybe The Matrix had it about right.
Maybe we can operate at levels beyond that of our day to day activities.
Blood lust, being 'In the zone', and/or being focused are just examples of where we would operate if we were to reach our full potential.

Many are said to have had epiphanic visions or to have had dreams which reveal previously unknown information.
But what if we did already know that which we were seeking but we were just not able to grasp it?
Maybe we just needed the information to be in the context which we could understand.
Maybe we were just looking for the perfect metaphor or analogy.
Maybe our sleep (like real prayer, fasting, suffering, or stress) frees us from all superfluous external matter to enable our whole brain to communicate with the area that is required to solve certain problems.
Maybe our sleeping state is when we are wholly conscious and our waking hours are when we are only focused on our earthy needs and desires.

Sports Roundup

While I'm not a huge fan of Soccer - I am a huge fan of female Brazilian soccer fans.
Will the US win the World Cup?
Aw hell naw.
But since five players are from California and three of those are from the IE - I'll be rooting for Team USA to bring the FIFA World Cup Trophy to America.

John Wooden - Oct. 14, 1910 - June 4, 2010

I like Barry Bonds because his father is from my hometown - but my favorite baseball player just retired from the game.
Jr. was The Man.
Like Barry Sanders in football or K.G. in basketball - Jr. only sat out games because he played too hard in the previous game and got hurt.
Eff Rugby.
That ish hurts.
Big hits without the pads?
Man... eff that!
But okay... the Utah Utes got lucky to upset the vaunted California Golden Bears 31-26 in the finals to win the recent USA Sevens tournament.
With Nebraska and Missouri thinking about joining the Big Ten - The Pac-10 is attempting to become the Pac-16 by adding any combination of; Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, Oklahoma St., Colorado and even taking the over-rated Utah Utes from the Mountain West Conference.

Illegal American Heroes

Odd that depression era superheroes were given distinctly idealized American traits even though many were illegal aliens.
Did Wonder Woman ever get her papers?

And Superman was really an illegal alien.
(But he was allowed to work and remain in the country.)

AK-47

The American M-4 assault riffle is one of the most technologically advanced weapons on the planet.
At less than seven pounds, when fully loaded - the gas operated, air cooled, multi-position telescoping stock weapon is America's answer in most hostile situations.
But the weapon often jams and fails to function when stressed.
The weapon is expensive and fails under less than perfect condition.

The older AK-47 has fewer moving parts and fewer technological advances.
But this weapon still works when wet or dirty.
This weapon works because it has a bit more play and a larger margin for error.

So why do so many government programs fail to produce the desired results?
Because like American made weapons - American programs are overly designed to work only under optimal conditions with little or no account taken for any variation.

Brad Did It Too

Sometimes what one already has is perfectly good.
But sometimes a guy wants something (someone) with more sex-appeal.

Sometimes it's just time for an upgrade.
Sometimes this can be an easy choice.
