Natural Progession?

During Prohibition, many from the South would soup-up their cars in an effort to outrun the Gub'ment.

These were men who despised anything government run or government controlled.
These men were rebels who believed in an alternate (but losing) version of The American Dream.

These Bill-E-Bobs even turned their passion into a marketable "sport" which included much of their history.

But when did these guys from "Deliverance" begin to stake the sole claim of American ideals?
When did Bill-E-Bob begin to celebrate flyovers?

C'Mon the intelligent people are harder to influence! So instead they went to NASCAR and started to celebrate Budweiser (no longer USA owned) and sing country tunes. All while waiving confederate american flags and encouraging them to join the Armed Services.

It's funny to see the same propaganda being used on dumb whites too. Oh yeah the flyover is so they can tell their kids that one day they'll be up there so they can get their kids to go into the service.

It's a damn shame that NASCAR has been bastardized by racist assholes. My husband loves NASCAR and any type of car race in general. He and his buddy went to a NASCAR race a couple years back and you know they were the ONLY ONES who got RANDOMLY searched.

When we went to Laguna Seca raceway to watch indie races, though, we didn't get that type of treatment. Indie racing does er attract a different type of fan than NASCAR...

This is the essence of NASCAR culture. Teabagging at its unadulterated finest.

You should see the free military video-gaming arcades they set up at NASCAR events for young male entertainment/indoctrination/recruitment - most impressive setups I've seen anywhere, and that includes the permanent setups out in dead outer rim suburban strip malls which now specialize in a fin d'siecle version of these.

UBJ, I bet you still went to the parade when they use to race at Riverside Raceway? Was you tea-bagging back in the day?

Come on, these guys have always beeen what they would consider "conservative", wanting to maintain the values and standards of their fore fathers... values and standards that include racism, mint juleps, personal freedom (of white people). The Klan considers itself a family values preservation society.

One of my former jobs included working the parking lot events at NASCAR events down south. We would spend a week getting Billy-Bob all excited about the race, very drunk, and all kinds of mullet inspired activities. At the end all the company guys would have the best seats to the race as a reward. I never went. I skipped the races to beat the traffic and drive back home to my wife and then 1 kid.
Those NASCAR evenets were the biggest cultural education I ever recieved.

I just don't get the appeal of NASCAR. A bunch of cars going in circles, I just don't get it.

However as far as bootlegging is concerned, I have a cousin that used to do that. I lived in a dry county in Alabama when I was going to high school and one of my cousins sold hooch out of his home for a living. If I'm not mistaken, that was my father's favorite spot.
