If you're the type of guy who finds Halle Berry attractive - the pickin's are about to get slim. We live in a country that seems to favor tall and fit people.
Apparently, American Black women are getting shorter and wider.
Who commissions these kind of studies? Why is it always Black vs White no matter what they are talking about?
Ok on topic we just need to embrace working out in our culture. We got to stop this fat women being OK or calling them real women. Real women don't have rolls on their back!
@ ROTFL! When I hit a size ten my husband was like oh no babe. I felt bad for a minute but he started working out with me. I hated going to the gym to lift weights because I felt uncomfortable around all the other men. But he went with me until I got better. Now I am entering my second running race on Thanksgiving an 8 mile race. I had a husband who cared enough to work with me to get me back right. And now I work out a minimum of three times a week.
BTW, I swear it has to do with the hair. Before I went natural there was NOWAY I was sweating out my perm.
@SJP - If you click the link that UBJ provided it is study about black women in comparison to white women! That's where I got it from. The study compares them to what white women are doing at the same time.
@ Freeman, I read the article before writing my comment and my question remains. The data used as the foundation of this article speaks directly to the fact that Black women born in the 80s are shorter than those born in the 60s. The fact that data are also provided for white women is used as a point of comparison or frame of reference - probably for those who might want to know how the data were reflected for that population. But, the article in and of itself is NOT about a Black VS White in my mind. And I doubt very seriously that such a study was commissioned to look specifically at race as it relates to ones height or weight. It is simply a report of some of the demographic data retrieved which points to a particularly interesting phenomenon which may be occurring. It's truly not that serious.
@SJP - If the article is about Black women getting shorter what benefit is it to compare to white women in the first place? If the article is not about white women at all why mention it? Why not say compared to mexican women or asian women!
Its not serious at all it's just most of your stories about Blacks have a small reference to what white people are doing. If we talk about schools, if we talk about sexuality, if we talk about vacations and if we talk about salary. Don't you ever wonder if it's irrelevant why it's always there.
Yes this article about black women in particular but I just noticed it. I only gave in one sentence and then continued on but I did notice it.
Concerning to whom the fault of oppression belongs; "We are not all equally guilty but we are all equally responsible" - Rabbi Abraham Hescel
Concerning blaming others for the problem; "...And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brother's eye, but considerest not the beam that is in thine own eye?... - Matthew: 7 1-5
Concerning how to fix the problems concerning oppression; "Someone once said that the word 'motivation' should never be used in the singular. Some combination of motives always exist and it's impossible for anyone to qualify the proportion of each that is involved in any given act" - Warren Buffet (in an interview in the USA Today)
