Thou Shalt Not Murder

"I chose to become an abortion doctor because abortion is the single issue of civil rights and personal freedom for women" Dr. George Tiller

Scott Reoder is the person of interest in the murder of late term abortion doctor George Tiller.
In the comments section of an earlier post, SeeNew said;
"My friend Dr. George Tiller was found not guilty this afternoon.
Yay!!!!!"
Now - Mr "Judge and Jury" Reoder has found the Doc guilty in the court of his own mind.
So is theoretical murder (abortion) more egregious than an actual murder (as allegedly done by the Tiller killer Scott Reoder) - or is it the act of a pious man?

I'm pretty sure the original reading of the Ten Commandments was "Thou shalt not MURDER"
Not - "Thou shalt not kill".
Apparently - killing was sometimes necessary in the Old Testament.
While abortion is wrong in my opinion - Murder is wrong in God's.

(Notice how this also points out the hypocrisy of some in the Pro-Choice/Pro-Life camps? Maybe even better than in previous posts.)

Yeah but you missed Thou shall not kill (b) unless your killing a baby killer. Religion bends when it needs to justify whatever it wants see the Crusades. Underneath the civilized lies the savage just go and read of Mice and men again!

I guess if you are a pro-lifer who is glad that an abortion doctor has been murdered, then yep you would be a hypocrite. But like Freeman said - they will find a way to justify it.

Here's the thing - there are a lot of variables. George Tiller was in church when he was murdered. I'm very sure his church knew of his profession, and I am very sure there were people in his congregation who did not approve. But he still attended, and was even an usher. That's the way it should be.

I don't have to be a religious fanatic to be pro-life and I don't have to approve of abortion to be pro-choice. The idea is to live and let live, disagree without being disagreeable and fight fair when appropriate.

@ FreeMan - LMBAO at part (b).
I must have missed that one.

@ SeeNew - MORE homework?

@ RunningMom - I put "some" in the sentence.
But it seems that a lot of people judge others by the works of the few who get the most press time.

I agree with Freeman. Indeed, the Crusades came about as a way to occupy knights and other nobles with a common enemy, so that they would stop killing each other (which was the case up until that point).

It's what Christ was talking about when comparing the Pharisees to mausoleums that were polished and clean on the outside but on the inside, filled with dead men's bones. Such is religion in much of its current usage, an acceptable front for unacceptable behavior.
