Movies have been dealing with race and one's place at the table when attempting to rectify problems bought on by racist actions for decades.
To Kill a Mockingbird was more about the learning process of whites in how to treat and judge people by their deeds and not by their race.
Sandra Bullock teamed with Matthew McConaughey to attempt another telling of roughly the same story.It took a white person to rescue a Black man from a racist situation.
Michelle Pfeiffer would also play the role of a White Savior and sit in a chair as Coolio would rap his lyrics to Gangster's Paradise for Dangerous Minds.
Of course it took the nice white lady Hillary Swank to inspire ghetto children to perform at levels unknown to themselves in Freedom Writers. (Didn't Meryl Steep play a music teacher in the hood in Music From the Heart.?)
The counter position of Sidney Portiere in To Sir With Love would be Jim Belushi (Long before he was sexing-up the out of his league Courtney Thorne in According to Jim. *See; "Brohammas' Heffernan Theory".) in The Principal.
While some of these stories are based on fact - So is Stand and Deliver with Edward James Olmos.
And in Lean On Me, the eternally old Morgan Freeman plays a reform minded Joe Clark.

Nope, it's bad that those within these communities aren't generally doing better for themselves.
It's bad that the problems have become so bad that people will accept anyone who has "The Answer" to problems that they could have solved all along.
Why are these movies dangerous?
Because they are only used as a tool so white people can say, "See, we're not all bad.". (Which is true.)
Because these movies reinforce the belief (even held by many Blacks) that only a white person can solve any problems minorities have gotten themselves into.
Because these movies fail to enforce the dictum; nosce te ipsum - in that they fail to teach that the oppressed group always had the power for change on their own.

How many Finding Forrester movies can a MOFO see. That shit ain't reality and if so it's one in a million. But for a one in a million situation there is a movie about this same scenario like every year.
This is the white rehabilitation movies. They are trying to rehabilitate their image to the majority of Blacks by saying see we're not all that bad. Shit no one says you're all bad but stop trying to influence us by saying your all good. You're Not!
They could do the same stories about the Native Americans do you think they would object? So its trying to cover up a real wrong by saying look we are good for you. We are helpers and we are your friends! Mofo please after you kill tribes and enslave people you want to say forget about it lets be friends?
People are trying to be PG about it that's why it's expressed by arguing over this dumb ass movie. Really they are saying you aren't forgiven and stop trying this dumb ass angle. If the Germans made movies helping the Jews would the Jews say forget the Holocaust?
Sure you can see a helping hand as condescending and slap it. That is your perrogative.
What you say is nothing more than a pr campaign for excusing bad behavior could also be a campaign to help us understand that if you broke it you need to fix it.
If the root of the problem is truly white v. black, than the solution has to be both white and black.
I respect that your end of the problem is lack of, or percieved lack of, empowerment and resources, but my end(the white end)is our oppression of others and the denial of privelage. If there is a problem on my end, I want it fixed.

Why do so few Blacks see themselves as "Super Heroes" who can overcome situations that are beyond even our own control.
Why is Medea seen as "Keeping It Real" while some thought of Cosby as unrealistic and Bourgie?
The problem isn't that Blacks can't overcome - the problem is only that many are not aware that they can.

There is a film about the Germans killing the Jews too called the Third Reich on History Channel.
So how can one FICTIONAL reenactment of one German overturn real footage of mass graves and concentration camps? Also Speilberg made this movie so a German didn't make it at all.
It's still the same guilt as people try to rewrite history and make it look like they aren't all bad.
