Sink or Swim

What's wrong with conservative, prosperous or erudite Blacks?
Nothing.
There is nothing wrong with leaving the hood behind.
When one leaves the hood he usually acquires knowledge and skills which the hood does not possess.
When one leaves the hood one grows in ways which those from the hood may deem worthless.

There is nothing wrong with learning new things.
What if the boys from Louisiana had learned to swim?
I know, I know... "Blacks don't swim".
Everyone can make jokes all they'd like but how are those jokes helping the family who died trying to save each other?
What if one brother learned to swim?
What if that brother taught his entire family to swim?
How many people would have then been saved?

This is why I have no problem with people leaving the hood or being educated - my only problem is with those who've acquired a new skill and fail to ever give back.

It's a catch 22 for most Blacks who made it. They leave and they aren't like the new group and the new group doesn't have a lot of Blacks. So they ban together and look down on the non-educated even to the point of thinking there are two kinds of Black people Blacks and N's.

Everyone should leave the hood the real issue is those that do don't want to be looked upon as having a responsibility to give back. They want to somehow be Black in the good parts and not Black with the bad. So they feel a certain level of guilt and that's why they spend their whole lives talking about their country cousin and their stupid ways. They know they are attached to them but wish somehow the country cousin would have followed their corny ass.

It's a internal conflict manifested into BS terms and arguments.
