Texas is a strange state - part Antebellum South, part Southwest.
But judging by the attention the state has gotten in recent years; The James Byrd murder in Jasper, The CNN round table in Vidor, the false arrest of Black citizens on trumped up drug charges (Tulia, Texas http://www.hr95.org/tulia.htm ),
and now this in the small East Texas town of Tenaha. http://www.latimes.com/news/nationworld/nation/la-na-texas-profiling11-2009mar11,0,507135.story ?
I'm not big on blaming all Black problems on institutional racism. But when there are stories of those we are expected to trust to enforce laws fairly and equally doing otherwise - I have to wonder. Is Texas just a racist state?

Every single person that was involved in any of those 200+ ILLEGAL seizures should be fired, fined, forced to repay every single penny plus interest and banned from working in any authority role ever. HUGE abuse of power, HUGE.
Police departments everywhere are strapped for cash. Just a few weeks ago I was pulled over for "failure to stop leaving a private drive," That's $140 and 2 points... Meanwhile, the police department has multiple flat screen TV's decorating their lobby...
Those little towns in Texas have been in angst since Obama's been in office. Tell them to calm down. He can't do any worse than the last guy....ha ha ha
I lived there for 3 years. There is a such thing as I/Racism and even more so Overt racism. Texas is once again an overachiver.

I'm glad that enough Blacks kept fighting to get their voices and experiences heard to begin this investigation.
Whether the good ol boys of Tenaha's Finest are brought to justice or things change is left to be seen, but the cover's now pulled back.
This kind of ish is really scary and hard to believe it goes on, out in the open, sanctioned by government.
I forgot to mention... that picture gives me the creeps. Shivers.
