(Cop Killer Was Depressed About Going Back To Prison, Family Says)?
One is the cause - the other the effect.
But which is which?
In the story, Everstine Martin says it all; "All we want is respect".

sad so sad
cause and effect, great line, the effect from his past made the cause of killing.
I Bullet Am Sorry
This was so tragic, as was the Garza killing.
Just as tragic was this paragraph from the story:
"She said neighbors knew immediately where Mixon had run, but they didn't tell police — who combed the neighborhood — until nearly an hour later. But in East Oakland, lamented the woman, Elaine, who didn't give her last name, that cooperation doesn't easily happen.
"It makes you feel bad," she said, wiping her eyes steps from blood spatters that clung stubbornly to a broken sidewalk on 74th Avenue. "But you just don't want to be a snitch. The word, 'snitch,' it's almost worse than murderer."
The police are supposed to be there to protect the citizens and so much damage has been done that there is no trust, no confidence, and a feeling almost like - oh well they got what they deserved. It makes my heart hurt for everyone involved.
I understand that we want and need respect from law officials. And I understand the fear of being pulled over and hurt because I'm DWB'ing. I understand the harassment I or my family members could suffer by the hands of law officials.
I still don't understand how so many people are cheering this young man's actions. This killing spree was wrong and all those who are choosing to call this young man heroic are wrong.
This is indeed sad for our nation, that community and the lives of each remaining family member-of each victim.
This asshole was a liability to the safety of the people he resided amongst. Period, point blank, yes he deserved to die, and I hope he burns in hell.
Black people...
we need to learn to pick our battles.
