Although I'm pretty tired of the "Race is King" mantra usually put forward by past and current polemics, race-relations (and the improvement of such) is always a good topic of civilized conversation. I've been called "Uncle-Tom" more times than I've been called "N-----". When I volunteer at the local Habitat for Humanity, I'm often the only black working who's not trying to get a house. When I volunteer at the local shelter, I'm usually the only black on the giving end. Something is wrong or deficient with Black-culture (as it is practiced today). Don't say that I don't know the ghetto, I'm originally from the ghetto. My ghetto-pass wasn't pulled, like my middle school I.D., it expired. I graduated. Now, I say middle school because too many blacks haven't graduated from high school. (Detroit, anybody ?) Please feel free to bring up any topic but please refrain from misusing epithets and downgrading others. Thank you, UBJ

Not to be too cynical but that's how multicultural empires usually end i.e. Roman Empire, Austria- Hungary, Soviet Union etc.
@ classical one - Multi-cultural, yep! But not multi-racial.
We only need to look a little further north to the French speaking parts of Canada for evidence of this.
Hmmm... guess I better learn French or hurry up and move to NC so I can stick with English.
Multiracial is an even harder obstacle to jump. Just look at this country, race relations are always bad and simmering below the surface. Our two biggest contenders for super power don't have any of those problems: China and Russia are both strong monocultures.

@ classical one - Yes, mono-CULTURES not races.
Africa is both monos - many problems.
Ireland just got past "The Troubles".
In the Middle-East the wars are tribal.
Russia just broke up with all of the "nia' or "via" states over culture - not race.
It'll always be something.

Not to say we won't split up but...
Wyoming, Montana, Colorado, and New Mexico would go with California over the Dakotas if they don't create thier own intermountain west (which would also include Utah, Idaho, and Arizona.)
The Carolinas with the Northeast? Is he serious? The Northeast will extend absolutely no further south than Richmond VA...most likey stopping in Alexandria.
I think our nation will end when those pesky Canadian's invade from the north and turn all our basketball courts into ice rinks.
