Pinche Mayate

Yep...
Someone just called you a "June bug". (Well... really - they just called you nigga' but with an "er".)

But if you live up North with a bunch of Italians - The conversation may sound more like Christopher Walken's soliloquy in True Romance.

What I Would Buy

I love the PS3 - the system plays even the poorest quality burned CDs/DVDs.
But I hate watching kids scratch my games, CDs and discs.
Maybe someone could invent a PS3 disc changer that holds one hundred discs.

Start Small

If you think that the government can properly run a health care system,
let's see how they're doing so far.
Has anyone been to a General or Community Hospital?
The waits will kill you.

How are they doing with our military men's care?

Maybe there doing better with the Native American hospitals...

Or, maybe not.

Sure, health care reform is needed - but not by the government.
Insurance companies and pharmaceutical companies need to be turned into service driven industries instead of profit driven industries.
Maybe we could create a network of Credit Union type medical hospital companies to facilitate the needed changes.
I don't know about you, but the government hasn't proven it's ability to run health care in the past (or present).

Gay, Black, and on TV

DJ (from Derek's Window) asked; "Who speaks for gay Black males?"
I have no idea, but it would seem that there are a lot of them on TV lately.
From the dude on College Hill,

To the dude with the painted on highbrows on The Real Hoodrats of the ATL,

To the guy who was about to get whooped by Pookie an' dem on the same show,

To the guy trying out as a backup singer on P-Did's Making His Band,

To the guys on America's Best Dance Crew.

I honestly have no idea who speaks for gay Black males - but recently, there seems to be a lot of them on television.

Gold Beef And A Men's Suit

An old measure of our dollar is to compare the prices of three commonly purchased items;
Gold, Beef and a Men's Suit.
Gold is trading @ $948.00 an ounce.

With the draught conditions increasing in Texas - the Abilene Auction is selling cattle @ $841.00 a head.
And a basic Armani suit can be ordered online for $899.00
It appears that the cattle is at the low end of the three items at about $850.00.
But if worse came to worse - which would you like to own?
It's not that prices have gotten out of hand - the problem is inflation and the lack of buying power for the US Dollar.
See what your money would be worth today;
With the stock market closing at two thirds of it's all time high (9321 (today) - 14164 (mid to late 2007)) and home prices down 22.3% from their all-time high in 2006 - Isn't it the right time to invest in necessary goods.
It's said that you can't take your money with you,
but I guess you could be buried in your new suit.

Why Do White People Love "The Real Hoodrats of the ATL" ?

What?
You can't sensibly mock or ridicule Barack Obama being the POTUS,
or Tiger Woods owning the golf course,
or Michael Vick's rehab,
or Sotomayor being confirmed as a Supreme Court Judge,
or another POC getting a positive reaction from the media?

Let's make it easy for you.
I now present;
The Real Hoodrats of the ATL.

"We"?

I still see these shirts on the block, but do those wearing them even understand the sentiment?
Simple, three words.
Yes.
WE.
Can.
What part of "We" went missing?
Doesn't it imply (Well... really, state) some sort of participation besides wearing a t-shirt?
What actions are those wearing such shirts taking for themselves?
Or was the race won on election day?

Is THAT Your Final Answer ?

My young male cousins learned a lesson from an even younger female cousin.
After a week spent;
shopping for and buying school clothes for kids,
chauffeuring kids around for shots,
making repairs on old people's homes,
and baby-sitting little kids,
- I was tired.

"Sir", a little female cousin said.
"Can you take me to the mall and buy me a big cookie?", she finished - as she looked up at me with those pitiful eyes.
"Nah, I'm tired", I said.
"Oh. Okay...
But is that your final answer?", she said.
I guess the week watching Regis' return to prime-time was going to pay off for her.

My male cousins were amazed that she would ask again after I'd already said "No".
They'd already learned that "No, means no".
But then she explained that I could get a few platters of the hot-and spicy chicken at the food court to forgo having to cook.
She pointed out that I could get a new movie to watch in case nothing was on TV.
She pointed out that I had to drop off a cousin at their home near the mall anyway.

She understood the art of the sell.
She got her big cookie.
Her older cousins got a lesson in salesmanship.
(And I got a lesson in how some little kids refuse to accept "No" as an answer.)

Pop Culture Rundown

When did Scary J. Blige start writing books?

Sick of watching re-runs of Pookie, NeNe and dem (Although, I kinda' like Sheree.),
I went into the other room to catch Bully Beatdown on MTV.
I can deal with a bad mutha' fucka' - but I hate a mouth.
I just sat and giggled my ass off as bullies get whooped by MMA fighters.
