C'mon DesertFlower, explain this to me.
A group of Puerto Rican 'Mamisangas' invited me over for a meal on the 4th.
One of the dishes they promised was Ceviche.
What is Ceviche?
Hey UB! Ceviche is originally a Peruvian dish made with pieces of fish marinated in a vinaigrette of sorts spices so that the vinaigrette "cooks" the fish. To be honest I've never eaten it. But I've heard it's very tasty, so do try it! Let us know how you like it.
No "vinaigrette" DF - the fish is cooked by acidulation in citrus juice, predominantly lime, mebbe a little lemon juice - sometimes others and some salt, some cayenne or a little serrano, jalapeno, or even habanero (if you like it real zesty) - I was not aware that borricuans had a ceviche, so I'm interested to hear what they do different from the pacific mexican variations well-known hereabouts
Yes you're absolutely right CNu! It is citrus. I didn't remember at the moment. I don't know how the dish is prepared here. I've seen it in the capital in a Peruvian restaurant that used to be there. I don't make it myself and have never eaten it:)
@ SeeNew - Dude, just an appetite. Had some plantains and yellow rice too. It was a'ight - tasted like a fishy pico de gallo.
@ DesertFlower - Popular with the ladies? A bit - but I still don't know why. I always try to show a side that I'm sure they will NOT like. Stuck-up women - I let them see me dirty doing construction or fixing cars... Hood-rats - I let them see me doing things thought to be more bourgeois... Women who like smart guys - I let them see me playing some type of sport... No matter how I try to dissuade them they keep coming. I've even taken womemn to one of my rent houses in the hood telling them that that is where I live and they still try to holla'.
Don't get me wrong, a pretty and fine woman who is nice with a good personality that goes to church can stop me anytime - but a hoochie just trying to throw some panties? Next! I've got things to do.
I'm jealous, I bet you get some paella too.
ReplyDeleteAre you supplying the refreshing adult beverages or the fireworks - or did they just tell you to bring an appetite?
