My video game playing is usually limited to whatever my young cousins happen to be playing at any given time.
Some games have interesting story lines between the actual game playing.
God of War would be a great concept for a movie.
Other games, like Hitman, Tomb Raider or Resident Evil, have even been made into watchable films.
Others, such as: Bloodrayne, Mortal Kombat and Max Payne, were a waste of celluloid.
To play a video game or not - that is up to the individual.
But since many of my young cousins enjoy playing such games in their down time, I often ask questions regarding the content of these games.
As long as I don't ask in the middle of an intense fighting sequence, my cousins seem more than happy to engage in a conversation about something they enjoy.
But one thing struck me as I watched them play.
For a medium dominated by those within Asian countries - many of the characters seem awfully un-Asian.
Was this by design or was it a telling sign of an inferiority complex among these Asian game designers.?
I read many Asian females mentioning that Asian women have short legs and longer torsos.
This caused Target (and other stores and designers) to create lines geared toward an Asian phenotype.
But judging by the images given to Asian women in video games - Asian women are a leggy bunch.
Besides in video games - when was the last time you saw an Asian girl with long legs and a huge rack?
With these hips, this character must be "Blasian".
MTV is changing Asia like Crack messed with Blacks. I personally know so many Chinese kids that will buy anything american. They come over looking for American experiences and are willing to drop everything they know from their past to be part of what MTV has pumped into their country.
ReplyDeleteAmerican marketing is a juggernaut and it's making Asians feel that they're history is a bunch of dumb karate fighters even when they know better.
I don't know much about this subject, but UBJ, I used you in a post (today).
ReplyDeletelol.
ReplyDeleteas you amply illustrate, tig ole bitties are international, worldwide.
everything else is conversation...,
Do many Asians really wish they were more "American"?
ReplyDeleteDo many adolescent males (the primary demographic for whom gaming exists) wish they had two hands and a face-full of tig ole bitty?
Hey John,
ReplyDeleteFantasy meets reality! Look at some of the real life Asian models who have been successful using the internet. They've changed their eye and hair color, boosted the boobs in some cases and in some cases had altered the lips, and butt!
America! We will change YOU or YOUR Children!
Blasian huh? wow. Well I am not much for video games unless its sports (football in particular) but I have noticed that most of the women are busty, have naked and generally very tall. I would say that it would be safe to assume that most gamers once provided the opportunity would create their "ideal" and she is generally never realistic. I would also say that it would also resolve that there is a large following of asians that are extremely fascinated and some that are overly fascinated with american culture (black culture as well). It's all rather ironic that it goes into gaming as well... Goof post as always.
ReplyDeleteIt's almost as if it's about to turn into video game porn. All the women seem to be gifted with double Ds and nipples sticking out like Hershey's kisses.
ReplyDeletelol@Hershey's Kisses
ReplyDeletethe peerless SCIENCE of tig ole bitties.....,
poking out like hershey kisses huh? I am so going to leave that one alone. lol.
