Back In The Day

Something occurred to me as I was watching a Richard Pryor clip over at Mill's spot (UndercoverBlackMan) - television used to be racist as hell.
But then I had to think a little more about the past.
What was really happening was that many Blacks felt secure enough to laugh at their own idiosyncrasies.
Many Blacks had strong images to counterbalance all the negative hyperbole usually seem in mainstream media.
Many Blacks heard others laughing - they just didn't care.

But with today's soft ass sissies - most are too sensitive too hear the truth.
Really...
Call one of your good looking friends "Ugly" - did everyone laugh?
Now call one of your ugly friends "Ugly" - did everyone say that you're being mean?

"Beautiful" Black women used to be "Beautiful Black Women".
There was never a need to try to pass off a sloppy plate of chitterlings as a nice thick and juicy porterhouse.

Today, many think that anything Black is good Black.
Even if it's just some slop.

Back in the day, when someone would laugh...
they'd get knocked the eff out.

Today, there are too many sissies worried about trying to fit in.
Too many mamma's boys worried about their appearances.
If someone laughed at these sissies - they'd probably just cry.

Nah...
I'm not saying that we should try to relive our past struggles - but maybe those struggles made us a stronger people.

  1. I tend to agree with you. We are getting a little soft and a little too PC. I try to tell black folks not to be so super sensitive to name calling because as it was in childhood, the bullies will just keep messing with you!
I disagree with you on Monique though, that sister is doing HER! Some brothers like a little fat on their meat, gives it more flava! Cant hate that! Ha!

  2. Damn, you're really not making it easy on me to schedule a play date are you?

That said, and your use of the word sissy along with the above pic of the black man - I agree.
