Even if the mistake was well intentioned - do American Baptists really have the right to "help" Haitian children in this manner?
Did "god" tell these followers to assert their personal view of freedom upon these children?
Maybe they should have asked what was needed before assuming what the correct response should be.
This is why people call white folks devils. So called good intentions but done in a evil manner. I'll be surprised to see what comes of this because I'm sure their devilish ass thought they were doing good by so called rescuing these poor Black kids and bringing them to Christ in Boise.
ReplyDeleteI guess I'm supposed to say they had good intentions and they were bringing them to a better way of life. But, since we have seen this same act with the Crusades against the Native Americans we know what happens when good people rescue kids from what they perceive to be a bad life.
I swear white folks need to look in the mirror. And yes I'm generalizing just like these dumb asses generalized that they can dragnet black kids and so called rescue them!
I got to come back to add onto this...
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of evil must a person be to go into a country and steal someone's kids. What kind of arrogance must a person have?
They slip in and get a bus and take the kids to DR. 33 kids! What the hell kind of devil must you be and then try to act like you are good Christian folk on the news!
Obviously they thought they could get away with it. They showed the parents pictures of where they would live and then when they got to the border they told them they were all orphans. So you know they are deceptive just by how they were trying to get them out of the country.
Damn, I hope they put them in a concrete building and wait for a aftershock. Damn Devils nothing more nothing less!
I think some of the same resentment could exist for (some of) those who try to change those who live in the hood.
ReplyDeleteIn rethinking my efforts - maybe I was acting in much the same manner as these misionaries.
I want to go on record saying, "I have never met these people".
ReplyDeleteAll I need is an in-law saying "you Brohammas, check your cousin."
These arent my people....
(said while backing away)
Look the best anyone can do in these situations is bring a air of stability. People don't get that stability is causing the majority of these problems. If you come into the hood work on shoring up education and stopping violence. Work on exposing kids to new things and taking them on trips so they have a real picture of what their world looks like outside of hell. I know for me I got to see what life was like outside of Compton and it was very valuable to me.
ReplyDeleteHell is relative and since most people don't know any other way they don't see it as bad as those outside see it.
The crazy folks who took kids thought for sure that the life these kids faced was unbearable but they didn't realize it was unbearable to them.
Help is not taking kids away from their parents and thinking Christ is the way. Help is stabilizing the area by bringing them food comfort safety and good education. If you take care of those people will prosper no matter what. Now they might not turn into your next leaders but they will elevate from being helpless.
@ brohammas - Nah... Baptist missionaries - not Mormon.
ReplyDelete@ Freeman - Yeah... But maybe I'm being arrogant in assuming that the people even want to live where I live, drive what I drive or eat what I eat.
Maybe they don't want better - only more of what they already have.
Hey we all make that mistake because isn't that why you do it. I mean I do it to expose and awaken people but I am finding out either I am not that convincing or maybe they just don't want what I think they can have.
ReplyDeleteArrogant is the complete ignoring of another's way for yours. I don't think you ignore it as you want them to add onto their life. It's like teaching a person who loves to eat fish to fish for themselves. It's not arrogant to point out that they can have more of what they already have and in fact they can get stuff that they never imagined by learning how to fish.
