A New Model

Okay, here is a better method of power delivery for an electric transportation system.
Take an electric vehicle,
add green parking garages/recharge stations,

and then add a slot car type recharging roadway.
Voila!
A viable (but almost impossible to produce) method of powering our vehicles.

  1. HOw do we keep from flying off the track while taking fast corners? Ease up on the trigger?

  2. I like the idea and if you look at the basics of a racetrack it's just a constant connection to an electric current. You have these buses in San Francisco using the same technology. It's as simple as McFly on back to the future funneling a current source into the generator.

On surface streets it would be a problem but what about people on the freeway. You could electrify it a bit with a little scraping mechanism. It's not like anyone is going to get off in the middle of the freeway. Plus you can reclaim the energy with the wheels turning and on the brakes.

  3. What about the miles per gallon or in this case the miles per charge??!!?

  4. You wouldn't have to have a groove in which to run like an AFX or Tyco set.
Just some type of retractable brush to make the connection to your battery from an electric track embedded within the freeway.

The electrical strip would power your vehicle while recharing your battery for later use on the non-electric surface streets.

The carpool lane could be used as a charging lane.
Collection of fees for use of the charging time would be collected in the same way as those collected for use of toll roads.

I haven't thought out all of the details - but a 40 mile driving range on our current electric vehicles sounds too limited to entice a wider usage.
There has to be a better way.
